Stanley E. Majors is licensed to practice law in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia and is experienced in all aspects of estate planning and the administration of trusts and estates. He provides planning services tailored to each client from simple estates to high net worth individuals and families who desire customized estate plans which optimize the transfer and protection of wealth for future generations and which implement their charitable objectives.

The transfer tax planning strategies he employs include the use of grantor trusts, life insurance trusts, dynasty trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, sales to a grantor trust, private annuity transactions, qualified personal residence trusts, family limited partnerships, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, private foundations, qualified domestic trusts for those who are not US citizens as well as the latest “cutting edge” planning techniques.

Mr. Majors’ practice also includes advising business owners in connection with the transfer of business interests to the next generation with minimal transfer tax cost and without disruption of the family business.  This practice area includes the development of business succession plans tailored to each client and the development of tax strategies  which address the crucial transition events in the life of a business from start-up, to expansion, and to disposition whether to a family member or a strategic purchaser.

Mr. Majors also handles the administration of estates and trusts. Whether simple or complex, Mr. Majors has significant experience participating with litigators in proceedings contesting wills and trusts as well as challenging the manner in which executors or trustees have discharged their fiduciary duties.

His accounting background, LL.M. in taxation, and extensive experience in tax matters enables Mr. Majors to effectively represent clients in disputes with the IRS.  This includes representation at all levels, from initial audit, administrative appeal, and the U.S. Tax Court.

David Majors is licensed to practice law in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. His practice focuses on trusts and estates, probate administration, and tax matters. He advises individuals and families on all aspects of trusts and estates, including estate and gift tax planning, business succession planning, charitable giving, fiduciary responsibilities, and trust and estate administration.

During law school, David was law clerk to the Honorable Edward L. Hogshire, Charlottesville Circuit Court; Executive Editor of the Virginia Journal of International Law; and student representative to the American Bar Association. He also participated in UVA’s Employment Law Clinic where he provided pro bono legal representation for individuals in Virginia.

Outside of his practice, David is a volunteer with Wills on Wheels, a free service to help eligible low-income Fairfax County residents prepare life-planning documents such as wills, advance health care directives (living wills), and powers of attorney.
